At the beginning of March this year the annual Chicago Auto Show opened showcasing what several car manufactures have in the pipeline for 2012. Being on American soil there were of course plenty of offerings from manufacturers such as Dodge, Cadillac and Chrysler but of interests to the British consumer there was an Audi TT RS, a Hyundai Genesis Sedan and a new Volkswagen Jetta GLI. Looking at the new Hyundai Genesis it seems like Hyundai is prepared to battle competitors such as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The Hyundai Genesis offers the feel of a luxury car and comes in a choice of V6 or V8 engines both available with their new eight speed automatic transmission. The V6 3.8-liter engine will deliver 333 horsepower with a fuel economy of 29 mpg on the motorway while the 5.0-liter V8 engine delivers 429 horsepower. Interior-wise it offers high quality with leather and walnut and a voice-recognition navigational system is standard. At a different end of the car market, the Volkswagen Jetta GLI doesn?t offer anything radically new from VW ? it?s basically the same car as before but with more horsepower and more sporty suspension. The turbocharged 2.0-liter engine gives you 200 horsepower and an expected 31 mpg. The GLI also looks the business with smoked taillight lenses, a revised front bumper and floating red calipers on the disc breaks.
